Functional Breathing Training

Breathing — the often underestimated foundation of our health.

We breathe around 20,000 times a day, mostly unconsciously. Yet our breathing influences far more than just oxygen supply — it affects many different aspects of our overall well-being.

Many people unknowingly develop inefficient breathing patterns without understanding the cause.

The good news: breathing can be trained. With the right methods, it can become calmer, more efficient, and more functional.

What happens with dysfunctional breathing?

Most people unconsciously breathe too fast or too much — without even noticing. Over time, this can disrupt the body’s natural balance and may show up in many different ways:

  • Respiratory system — shortness of breath, asthma, COPD
  • system — high blood pressure, heart palpitations
  • Nervous system — muscle tension, increased stress sensitivity
  • Sleep — snoring, insomnia
  • Concentration & energy — fatigue, low energy, exhaustion

With the right breathing methods, you can gently return to a healthy, natural breathing pattern — helping your body restore balance.

The Buteyko Method – Functional Breathing Training.

The Buteyko Method is an evidence-based breathing approach designed to promote calm, efficient nasal breathing. Through targeted exercises, chronic over-breathing is reduced and CO₂ tolerance is improved — with positive effects on oxygen delivery, the nervous system, and overall breathing efficiency.

The method was developed in the 1950s by Ukrainian physician Dr. Konstantin Buteyko, who identified the link between breathing patterns and functional health issues. His approach remains a foundation for a holistic, therapeutically oriented breathing practice today.
